I’m fairly certain that it wasn’t a coincidence that WWE ‘12 had the roster that it had this year. In fact, I want to say that there were certain storylines in the past year that occurred due to the WWE wanting there to be connections with the television product and the videogame.
Brock Lesnar making an appearance on RAW last night and the rumored return of Batista, two stars that weren’t under WWE contract were in the game. The dirtsheet reports of a scrapped Goldust and Cody Rhodes Wrestlemania feud, an angle that is hinted at strongly in the WWE Universe mode. Booker T’s return to the ring in an attempt to get the IC Title. Road Warrior Animal being called in for this year’s Royal Rumble but declined due to not being ready for it. The strange inclusion of Arn Anderson as a playable character and The Four Horsemen being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame months later. Kharma as DLC well before her surprise return at the Royal Rumble. I will even go as far as to blame this video game as the SOLE reason for Kevin Nash’s return to the main storylines as he’s the main boss during the Road to Wrestlemania mode!
Personally, I’d love for all of this to signify the return of Vader to WWE, but I’m not holding my breath. The point is that there might be something to my theory, which I originally stated on here as a joke. I will say that THQ has been contacting WWE Stars from the Attitude Era for this year’s game. The New Age Outlaws confirmed to be in about a month after X-Pac was ranting on Tweeter about how insulted he was at the paltry amount that was offered.
What does all that mean?
Fingers are crossed.
