Gotta love wrestling!

+ Veronica Ticklefeather took to her Facebook to not only address her current status in CHIKARA and professional wrestling but her status in life and where she’d like to be by the end of the year.
For those of you still scratching your head about the future of CHIKARA, this might not be the answers you’re looking for… but it’s a heartfelt post from someone who hopes that everyone continues to love wrestling, even if the future turns out to be not the one you’re hoping for.

It’s been a week. Not going to lie, I’ve been thinking about every day since then. My dad said if you’re going to let something go, let it go 100%. He’s right. He’s always right. I guess this will be my 100%. As I mentioned before, I put my papers in months ago to depart from Chikara. I cried for days thinking I would be leaving one of, if not THE greatest wrestling promotions in North America. I decided to move on and focus on many things. We all know I love baby sloths and the Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica. If my cousin Sammy stops stealing my money, then yes, I’ll be heading there in December. Ha! Everyone in Philly will be freezing while I enjoy warm weather with cuddly, fuzzy orphan baby sloths. Yes, I’m still in pro wrestling. Just want to clear up the confusion out there. Or maybe I need a tiny break. I’m still in AIW, IF and only IF my Batiri win the tag titles against Hope & Change at Absolution. If they lose, my world would be shattered and my cousin will have a spot in wrestling rather than me. Weird. No, more like ew. Yes I love my cousin, but she just needs to stay on her meds and the world will be safe. Maybe something special will come along this path. As the old saying goes, never say never in pro wrestling. Most importantly, I wanted to state this: my last night in Chikara, you fans actually cheered me. Now you understand where I’m coming from. What took you so long? HA HA. Honestly, I felt born again in front of the world. Accepted. Wanted and appreciated. Thank you fans for staying with me. We’re going to travel more roads together and you’ll read my wacky facebook posts about this, that, and the other. I also want to thank Chikara. You have given me opportunities beyond my reach. I’m very blessed and thankful I walked into your arms. Now, I’m holding you in my heart. I’m asking a favor from you fans: continue to love wrestling whether it’s independent, women’s, international, etc. That’s what bonds us all. It keeps us together. Never forget that. I’m off to eat a hoagie and drink arctic splash with Sammy and Squeaky. Stay tuned, there’s always something more. It’s only the beginning…. V

Pretty nifty, watching this come to fruition. Every year for the CHIKARA Chicago events there have been different artists that made the posters, which was a thing I didn’t know until I went to Challengers the day before the show.
Fun fact: One of the past artists was Jill Thompson, who you may know as the designer of Daniel Bryan’s Dead Kennedys homage gear AND Punk’s newest shirt (as well as several other great things, like Scary Godmother, etc).

Tim Donst - Who Is The Man?

Random fun facts about Tim Donst:

  • He once ate a man’s hair.
  • He can sing.
  • He is the man.

A reminder that none of us hallucinated this, and that CHIKARA was - and is - awesome.

Beyond Wrestling: Off the Grid

Just a short backstage segment to set up some future matches but pretty effective. Also, is there any doubt that Mark Angelosetti is a star?

+ Meet Dana Adiva. Last night, she was profiled on MTV’s True Life: I’m Too Beautiful, and she’s a professional wrestler.

I’m not too aware of Adiva, but the few things I’ve found online about her show that she’s been part of a Bombshell: Ladies of Wrestling card (wrestled as Miss Adiva against Becky Bayless back in February) and that she’s the daughter of “The Diceman” Ronnie Vegas. Beyond that, there’s not too much as Adiva is still pretty early in her wrestling career.
I’m curious if there’s anybody out there who caught the show and could give us some highlights about it. I’m sure that the fact that Adiva is a wrestler isn’t the focal point of the documentary (she apparently mentioned that she dropped out of high school due to being bullied by jealous girls), but I’m curious as to how the show played out.
Anyone?

[NJPW News] New Japan Pro Wrestling just released a video for the news that the NWA is coming back to NJPW.

NWA’s President Bruce Tharpe and the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Rob Conway are returning to Japan once more to prove that they are #1. Satoshi Kojima was unsuccessful in his attempt against Conway in April, but now the question stands with who from NJPW will step up to challenge Conway next?
