Match Of The Day:
Shinsuke Nakamura & Hirooki Goto vs. Mitsuhara Misawa & Takashi Sugiura
NJPW - Wrestle Kingdom III
April 1st, 2009
Things that stand out about this match: Nakamura and Goto look nothing like they do now in this match, the biggest change being Nakamura (he really looks more like the MMA fighter he was, gear and appearance wise, than the languid almost boneless rock star he is now); Misawa, as usual; and why do I not know more about Sugiura?
Match Of The Day:
Shinsuke Nakamura & Hirooki Goto vs. Mitsuhara Misawa & Takashi Sugiura
NJPW Wrestle Kingdom III
January 4th, 2009
There are things I believe you cannot ever get enough of. Breathing, sleeping and Misawa matches are my Top Three.
Rob Schamberger - The Great Muta.
I cannot emphasize enough how great Mr. Schamberger’s art is.
Match of the Day:
Keiji Mutoh and Tajiri vs Goldust and Jinsei Shinzaki
All Japan Pro Wrestling
February 27th, 2007
Jinsei Shinzaki (Hakushi) has been a favorite of mine since discovering him on a VHS tape years ago, and Mutoh is bar none the greatest Japanese wrestler ever known. So to see them tag with Tajiri and Goldust in a pretty good match is mindblowing. And I love the shot with Tajiri and Muta spraying mist.
Match Of The Day:
Takeshi Morishima(c) vs. KENTA
For The GHC Heavyweight Championship
NOAH - Great Voyage 2013
January 27th, 2013
What else is there to say other than it’s Morishima and KENTA?
Oh, right: It’s a damn good match.
Rob Schamberger does it again, this time with Misawa.
This is the third in a series of these I’m doing. It would be great to have a tiny Hashimoto, don’t you think?
Adam Ratliff is a guy you should be paying attention to. Not just for his wrestling stuff (which he is super great at, as evidenced by this piece and others on his DeviantArt here), but just because he’s a pretty great guy who happens to be amazingly talented.
Match Of The Day:
Manami Toyota vs. Akira Hokuto
AJW - Destiny
September 2nd, 1995
If there are any tips I can offer you after this match, they are: don’t shake hands with Akira Hokuto, and under no circumstances should you make either of these ladies angry. Somewhere around 15 minutes in, it’s interesting to see this go from a damn fine match to “Well Christ, anything goes”.
