Kind of surprising to see that the WWE actually took a promotional shot with Rey Mysterio as the WWE Champion. Not only did he lose the title in the same night he won it to John Cena, the title was nothing more than a paper championship as CM Punk “left” the company as the true WWE Champion.

Kinda amusing that the Sin Cara figure comes with its own arm-sling…

Raw Roulette is an interesting concept. When Raw visits Las Vegas, a roulette wheel will determine a variety of things such as match opponents and stipulations. In the case of this night, it led to a strange bedfellows pairing of Miz and Swagger taking on A-Ry and Mysterio under tornado tag team rules, something you don’t see often in WWE these days.
A great idea that led to one of the best television matches of 2011. This was impressive. Look for the tag team tandem of Jack Swagger’s fireman’s carry turned into a gutbuster with the help of the Miz, made moreso impressive by the sheer height of Swagger.

Rey Mysterio Jr. versus a masked Jerry Lynn! This match has all of the potential to be absolutely incredible! JL has had success in Japan and beat Dean Malenko earlier this year in one of — what’s that? Hulk Hogan is outside spraypainting a truck!? Let’s cut to that!!
It might take a while to get started, but this match is fun once all the nWo nonsense and commercials get out of the way.

![Rey Mysterio Makes His WWE Debut - WWE Smackdown [7/23/2002]
I still can remember how excited I was to see that Mysterio was going over to the WWE. By pure luck, I landed on the channel to catch his debut against Chavo Guerrero, a guy that a very familiar to Mysterio’s style of wrestling and watched the match holding my breath because I wasn’t sure how his match was going to go. I didn’t want to watch him completely botch his first match and look terrible in the ring, but there was also a part of me that really didn’t want to get invested just in case his WWE run went as well as the other WCW stars who came over a year-prior with The Invasion. Rey Mysterio Jr. was the human-highlight reel, I didn’t want him to seem weak due to terrible booking like Diamond Dallas Page was.
Needless to say, the guy has been a top WWE star for a full decade now, and it’ll be a sad day whenever he decides on retiring from the ring.
