I squandered a good portion of my adolescence playing this absolutely awful game. It was still a better use of my time than most of the courses I took in college.
On certain lonely nights, I can still hear Bobby Heenan repeating this phrase over and over in my head: “Oh no, it’s the choke slam!“
I still can recite most of the video taunts by memory.
Here’s a clip of Wrath making his way to the ring in WCW/nWo: Revenge along with a look at his finisher. Since the character was only half-finished, his ring attire is that of Brian Adams, but his taunt was something completely unique to this locked character that didn’t even make its way into the real game (until WWF WrestleMania 2000, that is).
Also, am I remembering his finisher incorrectly — shouldn’t it have been a Pump-Handle Slam?

Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone vs Dennis Rodman and Hollywood Hogan - WCW Bash at the Beach [7/12/1998]
I kind of remember enjoying this match due only to the fact that the concept of Malone wrestling Rodman managed to hook my father into watching WCW with me. I haven’t visited the match in years, but I’m sure that it was godawful in every aspect. in fact, I’m sure one of you can write a biting piece about how insulting it was to have a WCW celebrity match go on twice as long as the longest-running match with actual wrestlers, especially on a card that featured guys like Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Booker T.

Oh man, look at all this match has. Boxing. Referee Judge Mills Lane. Ric Flair managing Rowdy Roddy Piper. Bruce Buffer. Buff Bagwell in a ring jacket. His mother “Judge” Judy Bagwell putting a spit bucket on Piper’s head.
And let’s not forget this line: “Have you not seen a match or a night where we haven’t had seen some form of cheating?”
And people say WCW was dumb.

An interesting shot of a gaggle of WCW Legends hanging out with Disco Inferno that took place at a SoapCity.com celebrity auction. The wrestlers paired up with stars from several daytime soap operas and painted several pet food bowls with all of the proceeds going to The Humane Society of New York.

We’ve seen the former Mr. Courtney Cox sitting in the audience of WWE shows carrying his official WCW Championship that he was given after winning the thing for real during an episode of WCW Thunder. The strange thing here is that some random paparazzo caught the actor just walking around Hollywood with the Championship…
For what it’s worth, Arquette knew wrestling fans would shit on him for being awarded the title and donated all the money he received during his WCW stint to the families of Owen Hart, Brian Pillman and Droz.
